How is GSC CTR calculated?
Click-through rate is clicks divided by impressions, multiplied by 100. For a group of GSC rows, use total clicks divided by total impressions rather than averaging each row's CTR.
Why weighted CTR matters
A query with ten impressions should not have the same influence as a query with ten thousand impressions. Weighted CTR reflects the combined clicks and impressions in the data you are analyzing.
Use cases
Check a page, query group, landing-page type or reporting period. Low CTR with strong impressions can be a useful reason to review the search result title, description, intent match and page presentation.
Do not treat CTR as a ranking score
CTR is a performance metric, not a simple ranking factor you can optimize in isolation. Always consider impressions, position, query intent and the page's actual search result.
