What does average position mean in GSC?
Search Console reports an average position for the queries and pages in the selected data. It is useful for spotting broad ranking patterns, but it is not the same as checking one fixed Google result manually.
Why use ranking ranges?
Grouping queries into Top 3, Top 10, positions 11–20 and wider ranges makes it easier to prioritize work. Queries just outside the first page can be especially useful candidates for content and on-page review.
How to use this tool
Paste your GSC export with a Position column. The tool counts rows in each range and lets you download the detailed output when the analysis supports it.
Combine position with impressions
A ranking at position 15 with a handful of impressions may be less urgent than a position 15 query with thousands of impressions. Always combine position with demand and clicks when choosing priorities.
