Fiverr does not use one monthly subscription price for every user. Sellers set their own Gig prices, Fiverr credits sellers with 80% of a completed order’s purchase amount, and buyers pay a service fee at checkout. Hourly contracts have a separate fee structure. The figures below were checked on October 31, 2026 against Fiverr’s official terms and help pages.
Fiverr pricing and fee table
| Cost item | Published detail | Who pays | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Gig price | Minimum starting price is US$5, with higher minimums in some categories. | Buyer pays the Gig price. | Package scope, extras, delivery time and revisions. Gig guide, checked October 31, 2026. |
| Seller share | 80% of the purchase amount on a completed order, including extras and tips. | Deducted from seller earnings. | Tax and payout-provider costs are separate. Earnings page, checked October 31, 2026. |
| Buyer service fee | 5.5% of the purchase amount, plus US$3.50 for orders under US$200. | Buyer pays at checkout. | Taxes, currency conversion and regional upfront pricing can affect how the total is displayed. Payment Terms, checked October 31, 2026. |
| Eligible hourly contract | Payment Terms list a US$5 Order Initiation Fee on a new hourly contract and service fees of 5.5% of the hourly rate. | Eligible buyer pays the contract fees. | Confirm eligibility, weekly billing and the final rate before accepting an hourly offer. Payment Terms, checked October 31, 2026. |
| Withdrawal | Method-specific fees, minimums and transfer times apply. | Seller may pay provider fees. | Availability depends on country and provider. Withdrawal guide, checked October 31, 2026. |
Example: what does a US$100 Gig cost?
For a standard purchase under US$200, the Payment Terms list a 5.5% service fee plus US$3.50. On a US$100 Gig, that is US$5.50 plus US$3.50, or US$9 in service fees. The subtotal would be US$109 before any tax or currency-conversion amount that applies to the buyer. In selected regions, Fiverr displays an all-in price earlier in the search and Gig flow; the checkout page remains the place to confirm the amount you will pay.
The seller side uses a different calculation. On a completed US$100 order, Fiverr says the seller receives US$80 before taxes. That is not the seller’s final take-home amount if a payout provider charges a withdrawal or currency-conversion fee.
Is there a free Fiverr plan?
Fiverr is a marketplace rather than a software subscription with a standard Basic, Pro and Enterprise plan table for every user. A freelancer can start by creating an account and a Gig without paying a monthly marketplace subscription. Optional seller programs and other paid features may be offered separately, so check the price and renewal terms shown in the account before subscribing.
Gig setup has its own limits. The official guide says the minimum starting price is US$5, some categories require a higher minimum, and each package must offer at least one revision option. Sellers can offer up to three packages and add optional extras. These are listing rules, not monthly plan prices. Fiverr Gig creation guide, checked October 31, 2026.
How seller earnings and payout timing work
Fiverr credits the seller after an order is completed. The Payment Terms say earnings usually become available for withdrawal after a 14-day safety clearance period; Top Rated Sellers are eligible for a 7-day period, and hourly contracts use a 7-day period after a weekly report is completed. Eligible users may see an Early Payout option with a 1% fee. Earnings page and Payment Terms, checked October 31, 2026.
The withdrawal guide lists PayPal, bank transfer through Payoneer and a Payoneer account, but availability, minimum withdrawal, transfer time and provider fees differ. Do not assume a payout method shown in one country will be available in another. Confirm the options on the Earnings page before you price work around a payout schedule.
How buyers can control the total
- Compare the complete package, not just the lowest starting price. Check whether the needed source files, commercial-use rights, revisions or setup work are included.
- Ask a question or request a custom offer when the brief does not fit the package. Confirm the price and delivery date before paying.
- Review extras, quantity and any milestone structure before confirming checkout. Each payment can have its own fee.
- Check the final currency and taxes before paying. Local-currency display can change with exchange rates and payment-provider rules.
How freelancers should price a Gig
Start with the amount you need to earn before tax, then account for Fiverr’s 20% share and the time required to deliver the work. If your target seller earnings are US$100, a US$125 purchase amount produces US$100 in Fiverr earnings before tax because the seller share is 80%. Add the value of revisions, communication, software costs and payment-provider charges to your business calculation; do not price only by the time spent producing the final file.
Use package differences to make scope clear. For example, a basic package may cover one defined deliverable, while higher packages can include additional formats or a larger scope. Set realistic delivery times and state exclusions in the Gig description so a buyer does not assume an unlisted task is included.
When another marketplace may cost less
A lower freelancer commission is not automatically the lowest total cost. Upwork lists a variable 0% to 15% freelancer service fee per contract, while Contra advertises commission-free freelancer payments but applies platform fees to clients on its free plan. The Fiverr alternatives guide compares the buyer and seller sides of seven platforms. Check each official price page before you move active work.
